6pm @ Brokebat Mountain (A National)
W 31-9
The bats were busy at Wrigley on Thursday, and when the dust cleared Slow Poke had a 31-9 win over Brokebat Mountain in five innings.
Pokes had three players go 5 for 5 including A A Ron, Clay, and Josh. Aaron fit in nicely in the leadoff spot reaching base each bat and scoring 5 times.
Pokes were glad to have Josh back from his Twilight duties the previous game. The time off proved valuable as he hit line drive after line drive to end with 11 total bases on the night. Clay quietly had 6 RBI's to go along with his 5 hits. Trevor, Sage, and Zak each had 4 hits.
Thanks to the season competition Pokes hustled turning half of the 36 hits into extra bases. That would be 18 extra base hits for any non Ivy League player.
8pm vs Baby Ducks (A American)
L 16-23
Zak went 5 for 5 at the plate, but it wasn't enough to carry Slow Poke to a win on Thursday, as Slow Poke fell to Baby Ducks 23-16 at the Polo Grounds.
Eight of Slow Poke's runs were scored thanks to timely hitting by Zak. He homered in the first inning, singled in the second and fifth innings, and doubled in the fourth and seventh innings. Clay went 4 for 4 pushing the extra bases to take his Slugging Percentage to 1.778 to lead the team after 4 games.
Trevors bat is officially broke in as he hit a shot into the left field bleachers for the first homerun out (HRO in the box score) of the season. Thats right HRO is an official stat. Josh finally got out in the 6th inning lining out to the 3rd baseman who was quoted after the game saying, "that was the hardest hit ball I've never seen".
Pokes couldn't keep up as the bottom of the lineup struggled to finish 4 for 14.
