Ebbets Field
8pm vs Earnhardt Toros
T, 23-23
What a game as these AA juggernauts combine for 11 HR's.
Singles in the bottom of the first by Sage, Zak, and Nate started the scoring. Clay followed with an RBI and Trevor then capped off the inning with a two run double...single, I mean single that helped Pokes take an early lead.
In the second Trevor walked slowly to the "mound" warmed up and ready for the pivotal inning. Three pitches later the inning was over. Great defense and sound intimidation from all of his 5'6" frame set them down in order.
Singles by Shelby, Jordan, and Skyler loaded the bases for the top of the lineup. Even with the short porch in left Sage could not capitalize and settled for a sacrifice fly scoring Shelby. Zak once again forgot his place...or didn't care hitting a deep fly to left center for a three run homer. Clay struggled with the bases empty and the constant off speed pitches fouling three balls out of play unable to stay back and eventually flying out to left. Nate singled again. Josh Probst walked to the plate with the little voice in his head saying "swing hard". He did and put the ball into the seats for a two run HR (1st of the game).
A relatively quiet third inning saw Toros put up 10 runs to take the lead 11-9. Pokes responded with three of their own with singles from Shelby, Skyler, and Zak and an RBI ground rule double by Sage.
After Toros made the score 15-12, Slow Poke sent up Josh P once again with Nate on first. Josh P hit another HR to deep center field for his second HR of the game.
The fifth inning saw more of the same as Josh P once again came up with Nate on base (triple to right). This time he went to deep center field for his record tying third HR of the game.
Luckily BLD was nice enough to provide the radio feed.

With time running out and the game constantly going back and forth Pokes saw themselves down three runs in the bottom of the sixth with two outs. Skyler singled and Trevor F hit a swinging bunt that he legged out to keep the inning alive. Sage then stepped up tying the game by hitting a towering blast to left center for the most important HR of the game. Zak walked and Clay singled to put the winning run on second with Nate coming to the plate... Lets just say we had to play another inning.
Toros scored two on a home run that may have kept traveling to Florence. Nonetheless it still was only worth two.
Josh P lead off the last inning with a chance for a Slow Poke record fourth homer in one game...he hit a little league pop up in foul territory for an out. It was still a good game Josh.
Trevor singled bringing up "Air Horn" Haslam who hit a scorching double to center field scoring Trevor (Josh P the courtesy runner). With a little momentum Pokes managed just one more run and settling for the tie.

L, 4-20
Pokes could manage only 11 hits to take the loss.
Jordan, Josh P, and Skyler all had doubles in the game while Zak hit a homer to left. The only other bright spot for the team was Trevor going 3 for 3 including a line drive that almost went through the left field wall.
The teams combined for ten home runs on the game:
Slow Poke-1
Gunnells-9 (4 for outs)
