Hot bats not enough, D-Backs (purple) lose to Gray, 16-11

Ten hits weren't enough for D-Backs as it lost a shootout, 16-11 in three innings, to Gray on Tuesday at East Field. 

Mitchell Houston went a perfect 3-3 at the plate for D-Backs . He singled in the first, second, and third innings. 

Anthony got the win for Gray despite allowing nine runs over two innings. He struck out four, walked five and surrendered seven hits. 

Gray easily handled D-Backs pitching as six hitters combined for five hits, seven RBIs and 11 runs scored. 

Michael Strauss ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with the loss. He lasted just zero innings, walked four, struck out none, and allowed five runs. 

Gray didn't relinquish the lead after scoring six runs in the first inning when it scored on. 

Gray built upon its lead with eight runs in the second. Jake started the inning with a double, bringing home Michael. That was followed up by Spencer's single, scoring Jake. 

After pushing across four runs in the bottom of the second, D-Backs faced just a 14-8 deficit. and an RBI single by Brandon McKnight triggered D-Backs 's comeback. Mario Cordova to end the D-Backs (purple) threat. 

Gray added two more runs in the top of the third. A error scored Anthony to get Gray on the board in the inning. That was followed up by Rhett's single, plating Mason. 

Two D-Backs runs crossed the plate in the bottom half of the third, making the score 16-10. An RBI single by Mitchell and an RBI single by Jose Olverasparked D-Backs 's rally. The game went final when Michael struck out.
