D-Backs (purple) take out Gray with help from Jacob Alvarado, 9-5
D-Backs beat Gray 9-5 in six innings on Wednesday behind Jacob Alvarado, who went 3-3 at the plate.
He doubled in the third inning and singled in the first and fifth innings.
Jacob got it done on the mound on the way to a win. He allowed two runs over 4 2/3 innings. He struck out 11, walked four and surrendered six hits.
Allen was charged with the loss. He allowed eight runs in four innings, walked none and struck out four.
The top of the first saw Gray take an early lead, 3-0. A single by Anthony, scoring Spencer started the inning off. More runs came home for Gray when Jonah scored on an RBI single by Mason and Allen scored on a fielder's choice.
D-Backs brought home two runs in the first inning, and matched that run total in the fourth. In the first, D-Backs scored on an RBI single by Jacob, bringing home Cailen Losacco.
D-Backs never surrendered the lead after the fifth inning, scoring four runs on an RBI double by Mitchell Houston, an RBI single by Parker Cummard, and a two-run triple by Jackson Cummard.
